С linical case of CT diagnosis of torsion of the lingular segments of the left lung in the early postoperative period

Abstract
This article presents a clinical case of torsion of the lingular segments of the left lung — a rare and life-threatening postoperative complication in thoracic surgery. The relevance of this description is due to the diagnostic challenges and high mortality risk if not detected promptly. The study analyzes the capabilities of imaging modalities in diagnosing this condition. It is shown that standard chest X-ray has limited informative value and cannot reliably differentiate torsion from other postoperative changes. Computed tomography is the method of choice, as it can detect characteristic signs even without intravenous contrast: abnormal configuration of the lung root structures with torsion signs, consolidation of the affected parenchyma, and bronchial displacement. Timely CT diagnosis enables emergency surgical intervention aimed at detorsion and prevention of irreversible lung damage. In conclusion, the importance of vigilance for this complication in the early postoperative period and the advisability of using computed tomography when torsion of a lung lobe or segment is suspected are emphasized.
